La Huerta
The person in charge of the hunting trips will be available during your whole stay. The hunting area stretches around 250,000 acres, including the islands on the Parana River, the rice fields and pasturelands; these two latter areas are private properties into which access is granted only to our hunters. This guarantees healthy and controlled hunting pressure. We also have other hunting areas northwards that can be used, in case that, due to climatic reasons, it would not be possible to obtain a sufficient amount of ducks. Moreover, we offer great areas to shoot snipes, partridges and pigeons.
Hunting methods
The different varieties of ducks can be hunted late in the morning and in the afternoon. Contrary to what occurs in Europe, these birds move around during the course of the day, which makes it possible to hunt them usually from dawn to 10:30 a.m., and in the afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to dusk. The escorting guides accompany hunters.

Hunting Seasons
The duck-hunting season begins in February and finishes around mid-August. Previous experiences prove that better results are achieved during such period.
• Partridges are hunted from May until August
• Doves and Pigeons can be found year-round
• Snipes can be found in greater numbers form March until June

Argentina is a country ready to be discovered. The very developed transportation system will enable you to travel from one place to the other in no time.
Excursions can be arranged during your stay. The most interesting excursions are the following:
• Iguazu for 3 days / 2 nights in a B&B; excursion to the Argentinean side of “Cataratas del Iguazu” (Iguazu Falls).
• El Calafate – Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia for 3 days / 2 nights in a B&B; boat excursion to the famous glacier.
• Whales in Valdez Peninsula, from July to November for 3 days / 2 nights in a B&B; boat excursion.
• City Tour in Buenos Aires for 1 day / 1 night in a B&B; car and driver included.
• 2 days in the wineries and vineyards of Mendoza province.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Weather and temperature:
In Argentina, seasons are just the opposite of U.S. Summer lasts until late March, with quite high temperatures during the day. In fall, form April to June, weather is nice with temperatures averaging 65º during the day. Winter starts in late June; the weather is colder and damp, but temperatures rarely drop below 33º.
Weapons and ammunition:
You are authorized to import weapons, but not ammunitions (except carbine bullets). You will receive an import weapon form that needs to be completed. Also, a copy of the passport is required, which must be valid for at least six months after the date of your return. The authorized calibers are 12, 20, 28, 410. La Huerta will provide you with good quality cartridges in our hacienda.
Apparel and equipment
Take into account that both warm and light clothes might be necessary according to the season, and in all cases, a raincoat and a windbreaker jacket will be necessary for the boat trips early in the morning or in the afternoon.
Boots and waders are essential to walk through the marshy areas. It is advisable to wear camouflaged clothes, since islands usually do not have enough vegetation to hide from ducks. Remember to bring your riffle case. Take a hat and sunglasses as well. Sunscreen and mosquito repellents are necessary, especially at the beginning of the season. It would be wise to take two hunting outfits. We offer free laundry service every day.
Requirements:
Passport valid for at least six months after your return date. No specific vaccines are required.

The legal currency in Argentina is the Argentinean Peso.
All major credit cards are accepted in Argentina. However, payments in our hacienda are required to be in cash and in U.S. dollars.
