Brown and rainbow trout
Fly fishing constitutes a real culture when it comes to fishing brown or rainbow trouts. The best fishing season begins in November and finishes in April. Our lodge is located near several rivers well known among American anglers: Alumine, Malleo, Chimehuin, Meliquina, Filo Hua Hum and Caleufu. In the past, European anglers were not able to fish in this river due to economic reasons. The devaluation of the Argentinean peso and the fall in the dollar made this destination available for a greater number of anglers eager to see these amazing rivers and their fabulous courses. Alberto, your host and guide, know these rivers like the back of his hands. He has been helping local guides and fly fishing experts for over 20 years. The ocher-colored landscape can be appreciated in fall. Snow can be found off-season, from July to September. Usually, the weather is sunny and warm but as in any other mountainous region, weather conditions may change abruptly. It is advisable to carry warm cloths, such as a fleece jacket. The warmest period begins in December and ends in February, and temperatures vary between 20 and 30ºC (about 86ºF). Hatchings occur very frequently, which makes fishing an extraordinary experience. Throwing fishing with spoons or lures of all kinds is also practiced.
